Norwalk, Conn. – Family & Children’s Agency’s (FCA) annual diaper drive brought in more than 15,000 diapers and hundreds of packages of wipes and tubes of diaper cream for families in need this June. Organized by the Agency’s Junior Board of Advisors (JBA), the diaper drive brings the community together to help those in FCA’s programs.
Studies have shown that not being able to afford needed diapers is a leading cause of maternal depression, and one in three families struggle to afford diapering supplies. Because of this incredible drive each June, FCA is able to have diapering supplies on hand to help children and families in our programs all year long.
“We are so fortunate to have such a dedicated group of young professionals working to support FCA, and having diapers to give to families in times of crisis is a huge help,” said Robert F. Cashel, President & CEO of FCA.
In addition to planning this drive each year, members of the JBA took time during their July meeting to label, sort, and store the donations.
“Organizing the Diaper Drive is a rewarding part of being on the Junior Board of Advisors. It’s a meaningful project we are proud to work on and it makes a real difference for families in our community,” said Sherlene Rodriguez, Co-Chair of the JBA.
