When a baby is born, there’s a lot of attention and care given to the mother. Here at Family & Children’s Agency, we visit every first-time mother who gives birth at Norwalk Hospital to tell them what resources are available to them and provide group activities and parenting classes for moms. But dads benefit from support too!
We have home visitors who focus on dads and help them learn about child development. We have had dads learn to do their daughters’ hair at a salon. And now, fathers can come together in our Fatherhood Group as part of the Circle of Security curriculum to get the same opportunity for bonding, education, and support moms receive in their group.
The 8-week sessions will be held on Wednesdays, 5:30 – 7:30 p.m., beginning January 16 and ending March 6. Dinner and child care will be provided. Dads of children younger than 6 can come together to create a network of fathers and become the best dads they can be.
This new program was just featured in the Norwalk Hour! Read the story here.
